Record actual births and link calves to their mother without mixing event records with identity records.
The mother’s birth event and the calf’s individual identity are separate records. Use the known mother relationship to keep the history connected.
What can you record in Tarliva?
- Mother animal
- Actual birth date
- Total and live offspring counts
- Complications and individual calf identity
How do you track this in Tarliva?
- Open a birth record for the mother in Reproduction.
- Enter the actual date and offspring counts, plus relevant notes.
- Create a separate animal card for each calf with its identity and birth date.
- Link the known mother and review both records. Continue health records on the calf’s card.
Does entering an offspring count create complete calf identities?
A count alone does not provide an individual calf’s ear tag, sex, breed and identity history. Check the separate calf record and do not guess missing parentage.
Keep related records connected
Link heat, insemination, pregnancy checks, dry-off, births and calves to the correct animal. Review health and vaccination history on the same card. Keep planned dates separate from completed procedures and check the saved animal and dates.
